Description:

Each class is a 3-day series that is offered as a means of helping prospective parents to develop further insight into their capacity for adopting special needs children. This training fulfills Oregon DHS requirements for adopting children in state care.
Topics covered in this training include:

  •   Separation and Loss
  •   Attachment
  •   Child Development
  •   Adopting the Sexually Abused Child
  •   Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Effects (ARND)
  •   Positive Behavior Management
  •   Cultural Diversity and honoring a child’s heritage
  •   Adoption and its Effects on the Family
  •   Understanding the adoption process (from application to finalization)
