Become a Boys & Girls Aid Foster Parent
You have read about the urgent need for foster parents. You have visited our website and learned about the qualifications and the rewards associated with becoming a foster parent at Boys & Girls Aid. And you’re ready to get started helping children in your community. What next?
Attend a free monthly information session or schedule a personal one-on-one meeting to learn more about our foster care programs.
Complete and submit the Foster Care Application. You may return your completed form to:
Attn: Sasha Travaglio
Boys & Girls Aid
018 SW Boundary Court
Portland, OR 97239
The foster care team will review your application.
If your application is approved, you will be contacted with information on beginning the background check process and submitting your fingerprints.
You will then receive an initial phone screening and if approved, you will be invited to attend training sessions designed to give you the tools you need to become a successful foster parent.
A clinician will then contact you to set a time to begin the certification process. This includes paperwork and an in-depth interview and home visit to make sure you are ready to welcome a foster youth.
Congratulations! After you have successfully completed all of the paperwork, passed the criminal history check and had your home study completed, you will become a certified foster parent for Boys & Girls Aid.
