When like-minded people come together, good things happen!
Boys & Girls Aid hosted two Fostering Futures luncheons—at the Sentinel Hotel in Portland April 30 and at NW Events in Hillsboro May 18—for 287 guests. More than $144,000 was raised to connect Oregon foster care children with permanent, stable, loving families.
Featured guest speakers included
- A young business owner, husband, and new father who, after 13 foster care homes, aged out of the foster care system without a family of his own to guide him into adulthood.
- A mother who explained the trust and control challenges her 11-year-old daughter still faces after being abandoned by her birth mother at a bus station.
Meet Mae, the girl featured on the 2017 Fostering Futures invitation, whose video debuted to Fostering Futures guests. Mae tells how she went from feeling like a “ghost” as a foster care child to being part of a loving, permanent family. The connection between her and her new mother and grandparents will make you smile.
Through the support of Fostering Futures, and individuals who make gifts to Boys & Girls Aid throughout the year, foster care children can have the bright the futures they deserve. It’s begins with a family.
