At this very moment, more than 8,000 children are in the foster care system in Oregon. Imagine living through the COVID-19 pandemic without the care and love of a permanent family, whose consistent presence, more than anything else, assures you that everything will be okay.

There are many ways in which you can support youth living in foster care.

Here are five ways you can help to ensure every child has a safe, stable, and loving home.

1. Foster

Consider opening your heart as a foster parent, we know that the most powerful act to support youth in foster care is being there for them. Loving and stable adults are key. Join our online info session to learn more on how to foster with Boys & Girls Aid,

2. Start a Facebook fundraiser

Start a Facebook fundraiser benefiting Boys & Girls Aid and invite family, friends and others to join. Whether you raise $100 or $1,000, every dollar will support the children we serve.

3. Donate new items and meals

You can donate art supplies, books, and meals to support the children and youth we serve in our programs. To learn more, please contact Katie Macdonald.

4. Spread the word

Help us raise awareness during National Foster Care Month and all year round about the urgent need for foster parents. Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube, Pinterest, and Facebook and share this post with your network.

5. Donate

Text BGA to 41444 to donate or visit boysandgirlsaid.org/donate and support children living in foster care.

Did you know your employer may double your donation to Boys & Girls Aid? Many employers will match charitable gifts made by their employees and retirees. For example, Nike, Intel, and U.S. Bank have matching programs. More companies can be found here.

Thank you for your generosity and for making a difference in children’s lives!
